Time is like pie?

To my friends and all the others who may read this, I apologize to the two of you for not updating this blog. Time is like an apple pie and it does not matter if I slice it 24 ways or eat in one sitting, it is still only one pie. I have been busy with family, church, work, and whatever else I can squeeze into the day. Recently I attended an Intro to Writing class. I really enjoyed the class and I only hope that I can find some time this week to complete the final assignment. A few years ago I almost failed a class on maximizing your time because I didn’t find the time to attend class. It is my hope that history does not repeat itself.
Last week Mr. Howard and I hiked to the top of Shaw Mountain Outside Of Boise. I call him Mr. Howard because his first name is Kim and I didn’t want you think that something funny was going on. Oh, if only his wife’s name was Pat. The hike is a good eight mile round trip and 3000 feet to the top. I shouldn’t mention the woman we saw that were running to the top while I was staggering but I was certainly happy for them.
Cheers.

Sell Out

Several years ago when our children were much smaller, I was carrying our youngest child across a parking lot when I stepped on a patch of ice and lost my footing. It happened so quickly as the ground rushed up to meet us. In moments like these time becomes a luxury that escapes us. There is no time to ponder your predicament, no time to measure the odds. You can not know the final outcome you simply sell yourself out to protect your child. Your body is the only thing between them and danger so you lay it down so that they can won’t suffer the hurt.

A couple of years ago I tried to help an elderly brother in the Lord who was falling off of some steps. I rushed to his aid but arrived too late to stop his fall but arrived just in time for him to fall on me. I saw him a week later in church and I said, “Brother, you fell last week and I have been concerned about you, are you all right?” He said, “I’m fine, somebody caught me.” I said, “That’s great”, as I hobbled away. A year and a half later I had surgery to repair a herniated disc that I had suffered in the fall. Jesus said, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay his life down for his friends.” I loved that older brother but does that mean I have that great love? I don’t think so, I simply reacted to a need and I had no idea what the cost would be but Jesus, knew what the cost would be; He knew that He would suffer like no other had suffered before or since. He laid His life down for those that hated Him. He sold His body out so that we could escape the wrath of God that will fall on the ungodly.

I now have a four inch scar on my back but it reminds me more of the great love that Jesus has for me, that He laid down His life for me. He took the blows so that I would not have to; He bears the Scars that were caused by my sin. Don’t you want to see the one who gave all for you and me? I do…
